Here to help you thrive
My interest in working as a therapist starting in my own journey as a client. My sister died when I was 5 years old and my family collapsed. I was a rebellious teenager, very expressed, and clearly asking for help. As an adult, I was struggling in my interpersonal relationships, unable to feel safe enough to be vulnerable and constantly in a state of fight/flight. These relationships were precious to me, and I wanted to be the partner, friend, daughter and sister that I strove to be. On a mission to heal my childhood trauma, I was given several diagnoses, including C-PTSD and BPD. Talk therapy was helpful, and limited. I did not believe that I was stuck with my trauma-responses forever. Luckily, enough therapists and mentors believed in me. It was only through my dance and performance studies that I learned to process, move through and integrate my pain and grief. After this, I invested in somatic therapy modalities such as EMDR and IFS, which helped immensely. I began to learn that it is safe to feel my pain and to ask for help. My relationships began to change with my careful and consistent study in mindfulness and awareness. I lapsed and spiraled several times; the journey is not a straight one. I am still on it, and learning more everyday.
My brother passed away this past year after a long battle with alcoholism. While I do not treat addiction, I understand the immense pain it causes the addict and those that love them. I am here to support individuals, couples and families as they deal with grief and loss. Losing someone we love is an unimaginable amount of pain, and we often cannot entirely make sense of it, but I am here to hold it with you. I understand both complex grief and complex trauma, and how it can show up in relationships. I can help you learn how to heal in connection, rather than isolation.
Relationships are both my biggest tool for healing, and the place where all the trauma shows up. I am deeply passionate about helping couples and individuals to have the healthiest and most nourishing relationships possible. My specialization and research into sex and intimacy is propelled by the desire to learn and teach how to be in loving and safe relationships. My role as a therapist is to hold space for you to process what you need to, to compassionately guide when it is called for, and to offer you an experience of yourself in a safe container, and I am deeply honored to do so. I am direct, loving, non-judgmental, and present in sessions with you.
Healing is Relational.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a PhD student in Clinical Sexology. I work for Enamory (based in San Diego) and Cope House Collective (based in Los Angeles) and am transitioning to running my own practice (starting March 23). I see clients through Telehealth with the exception of ketamine-assisted therapy. I am available for KAP in person with couples and individuals throughout the Bay Area.
